History House was opened on Anzac Day in 1976, by Sir Paul Hasluck. The building, designed by P. Pritchard, was first planned by the Armadale-Kelmscott Historical Society who launched a Public Appeal in 1975 for funds to erect a Museum of local history.

An extension made possible by bicentennial funding was opened on Anzac Day in 1988 by C.R. S.V. Pries, Mayor of the City of Armadale.

Minnawarra Precinct also contains the first Armadale Primary School 1900 and the Congregational Church 1903. History House displays restored original material relevant to the history of Armadale-Kelmscott and early Western Australia.

Valuable historical material has been donated and those associated with History House are grateful to people who have entrusted treasured possessions to their care. Articles so gifted will be acknowledged and appropriately displayed.
