Guildford Courthouse built circa 1866 and Gaol built circa 1841 and their associated site are of historic significance representing the history of law and order in Guildford and the Swan District from 1841 to the 1950's.

The site is a bench mark for the development of the penal system in Western Australia. The buildings are also of historic significance because of convict involvement in their construction.

Discover Guildford's fascinating story of survival, safety, settlement, law and order, natural environment and spiritual values that has today seen the creation of a vibrant and modern region offering a range of exciting activities. Displays and artifacts kindly on loan from the Swan-Guildford Historical Society.

The Courthouse is also home to the Swan Valley and Eastern Region Visitor Centre.
