The majestic an awe inspiring Glasgow Cathedral was built during the 13th to 15th centuries and is the only intact medieval cathedral on the Scottish mainland to have survived the 1560 Reformation. A sight of beauty and wonder, the Cathedral is a visual wealth of history that goes back thousands of years.

The Cathedral's humble origins date back to about AD590 when St Kentigern, also known as St Mungo, arrived to become bishop of Strathclyde and founded a religious community here around a small church. Today the Cathedral is dedicated to this great patron St Mungo, a character whom holds some popular folk stories amongst the locals.

The overwhelming impression when standing before the Cathedral is one of great size and in particular of great height. Be prepared to be inspired when you step inside and see the vivid stained-glass windows, most of which date back to the last century. This major attraction definitely shouldn't be missed!
