Warden Finnerty's House was built in 1895 and restored to its original condition by the National Trust of Australia (WA) and is open to visitors.
No visit to Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields region can be complete without a visit to Coolgardie and Warden Finnerty's House. Within the solid 18-inch thick walls of this fine old home are, preserved for posterity, items that provide a dramatic reminder of the romance and the hardships of one of the most colourful periods in Australia's History.
Built by Richard Bunning, the founder of Bunning Bros, Warden Finnerty's House is a striking example of early Australian Architecture, incorporating many features designed to combat the fierce inland heat. Tall windows have louvred Timber shutters, there are generous protective verandahs and atop the house is a ventilated roof lantern - a feature which later became typical of Goldfields buildings.
