Special Features
The Museum's oldest Western Australian item is a silk programme from a Perth performance of amateur theatricals in 1854, just 25 years after the establishment of the Swan River colony. cEven the room in which the Museum of Performing Arts resides has its own unique history. Prior to becoming a successful restaurant frequented by Perth's elite in the 1980's, the room was a health club complete with a swimming pool. With constantly changing exhibitions of costumes and memorabilia taken from the treasure trove of the backstage archives, the Museum of Performing Arts celebrates Western Australia's entertainment heritage from the earliest days of the Swan River Colony, through the Gold Rush to the computerised present.
