Since opening in May 1989, many visitors, both young and old, have enjoyed wandering around The Farmyard, meeting the livestock. The animals are friendly and enjoy human company, so even the youngest member of the family can pat or stroke them. From the smallest creatures to the largest, you can wander and just admire them or get that little bit closer and touch them.
As you walk around you will see many different varieties of traditional poultry and domestic wildfowl, most of which have been bred on the farm. Many are wandering about freely as they used to in a traditional farmyard. Although the animals are fed on a regular basis, they love the corn thrown by the visitors (this is made available for you at the entrance). Amongst the livestock you will find a Suffolk Punch carthorse, Shetland ponies, donkeys, sheep and a herd of Pygmy goats. They all enjoy your visits. Each time you call, you will find something different to look at and wonder about. Nothing on the farm stands still, there are always things to see or do.
In one of the buildings the farm exhibits very young stock; chicks, baby rabbits or guinea pigs for you to hold or stroke. There is an observation beehive, and a brooder for chicks. The walls are full of information about local wild plants, trees, shrubs and animals, and visitors should be able to find many of these on the nature walk, which is just over a mile.
