The Masjid ibn Taymeeyah or more commonly referred to as the Brixton Mosque, is one of the oldest mosques in south London, which has had a strong community focus since its opening in 1990 and provides religious, social and financial support to its members.
The mosque occupies a central location and attracts 100s of worshippers daily, and accommodates over 500 worshippers every Friday. The organisation consolidates the foundations of Islam and educates it followers. The Masjid has plans to expand in the future in order to accommodate the increasing number of worshippers at the centre.
The organisation has established a school, which teaches Quraan memorisation, Arabic language, Islamic Studies and the National Curriculum subjects. A number of Islamic seminars are hosted each year, to aid overall development, both spiritual and otherwise.
The mosque hosts a range of events including: seminars on youth related subjects, a paint ball competition, a sports day for children aged 5-15, the Dawah Conference and question and answer sessions by qualified doctors.
