The Allt is named after the stunning prominent ridge, Allt Yr Esgair, which guards the beautiful Usk Valley; it is known to have been built before 1706. The Allt has been home to a number of families since then, and has been extended by each one of them in some small way, changing it from the humble cottage it once was. Its original walls are nearly 4 feet thick in some places.

The accommodation comprises of well-appointed double room with en suite facilities, family room and two single rooms. All rooms come complete with tea and coffee facilities and a television in the family rooms. The Allt has a cosy residents lounge with a television ideal for relaxing in at the end of a hard day sightseeing.

I stayed at The Allt with my girlfriend last weekend and we had a fantastic time. The house is very cosy and has a homely feel. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Seamus and Anne, the owners, are a very friendly couple who cook an extremely tasty breakfast (as well as providing cereals, toast etc) and gave us some useful ideas of where to go walking ... I've stayed at the Allt for many years - it's my preferred getaway location in Wales. Great, friendly pubs just down the road and fantastic walks for all the family and great company.
