The Museum of Antiquities is situated in Newcastle's city centre and is the joint museum of the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne and the University.
The museum is the main archaeology museum in the North east of England, providing visitors with information on Hadrian's Wall and the Roman frontier. Guests are able to view a range of models and archives, and a collection of artefacts relating to Hadrian's Wall, alongside a full-scale reconstruction of the Temple to Mithras at Carrawburh. Other displays focus on life in the North East from early prehistory to the 17th century.
The museum is open from Monday to Saturday, and it is advised larger parties book in advance to avoid overcrowding.
