The Scottish Fisheries museum is spectacularly situated on the harbour front in Anstruther, in the heart of the Fife fishing community. The Scottish Fisheries Museum tells the story of fishing in Scotland and its people from earliest times to the present. Since the museum was opened in 1969 the it has grown in size and in the range of its galleries.
They also have a small and private chapel, which commemorates all those Scots who lost their lives at sea while fishing. The Museum has a significant photographic archive and reference library, open by appointment and the Education Centre is also available for hire. The Museum's flagship, the REAPER, 102 years young visited British 14 ports in 2003 and attracted more than 24,000 visitors from 45 countries. There is an extensive programme of exhibitions shown at the museum throughout the year.
