The East Kent Maritime Trust formed in 1983. The main aim is to promote and raise awareness of the unparalleled maritime and associated heritage of East Kent. This work is mainly carried out through our Museums but a wide range of other activities - publications, conferences and special events backs this up.
The Museum is located on the Royal Harbour and contains four galleries and exhibits that tell the maritime history of the area. Permenant displays show the development of the harbour, navigation, fishing, life boats and ship wrecks. The Fifth Exhibition space, The Gun Room, displays a unique atrefact raised from the ship wreck of Stirling Castle.
The Museum is emlightening and informative and is a perfect educational visit for the whole family. The Museum is located by the harbour, close to many other attractions and eateries.
