The Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum is located at Manston in Kent, one of the very few surviving airfields that participated in the Battle of Britain. The Memorial Museum is dedicated to the pilots and aircrew who gave so much to preserve freedom in the dark days of World War II And contains a wealth of information and facilities within.
RAF Manston was the closest airfield to the enemy coast and bore the brunt of the early Luftwaffe air attacks in the long hot summer of 1940. Permanently housed at Manston are splendid and original examples of the two World War 2 fighter aircraft, which served the Royal Air Force so well in so many areas of battle both at home and overseas.
The Museum contains the Merlin Cafeteria and Flytes Restaurant, offering hot and cold meals and drinks and a beautiful outdoor patio area. Flytes Restaurant provides a wide-ranging a la carte menu to include English, French and Italian cuisine. Flytes does not have a liquor licence but if you provide your own wine or beer Flytes will provide the glasses.
