Ramsgate harbour was originally built as a port of refuge for vessels sheltering from stormy weather. In 1821 the people of Ramsgate gave King George IV such a loyal welcome that he gave Ramsgate Harbour its unique Royal title. Located in the picturesque Kent harbour town of Ramsgate, the Port offers modern commercial and leisure facilities in a safe marine environment.
The Harbour serves a practical purpose in that passenger ferries are available to various European destinations. However, events are scheduled throughout the year, such as the Powerboat Grand Prix, Round the Goodwins Race, Sailing Regatta, Costumed walks and much more. Ramsgate Visitor Information Centre in Albert Court, York Street, will inform you of details of events, dates and times.
The harbour is situated close to the French and Belgian coast with excellent road links to the M25 via the M2, direct rail links to London and international destinations through Kent International Airport.
