This award-winning guided walk takes you around the historic village of St Peter''s, where the past is dramatically brought to life by costumed characters. You will visit the flint built Church, with history going back over 1400 years, and then hear the fascinating story of the Baptist Church covering over 350 years!

You will hear about conditions in the workhouse, breakfast concerts for hundreds of fashionable people, the farmyard given a new lease of life, the tower used in the Napoleonic wars, the Kentish Samson, famous local residents- and much more.

See and admire the oldest buildings in the town of Broadstairs and St. Peter's, and visit the ancient seat of local government for the area. The tour is less than a mile of flat walking and includes a break for tea or coffee (not evenings). You are advised to allow two and a half hours for your visit. There is no charge, but at the end you are invited to contribute towards the costs, including insurance, which average £1.50 per visitor.

Further Information
The people of 19th century St. Peter's watched as the Royal Navy sought to recruit able bodied local men for the forthcoming encounter with the French. Rich and poor, young and old, everyone was considered suitable - unless they could persuade the officers otherwise!
