Surfers have been riding waves at Joss Bay for over 30 years and it is by far, the most popular surf spot in the Southeast. This regional classic surf spot is suitable for all levels of surfer. The bay can break at pretty much any stage of the tide and has various right and left hand peaks. On a good day, you could surf from low to high if your arms can handle it and if the swell permits.
Joss Bay provides surfing courses for beginners either on a one to one basis or group lessons (max 8 per group). The newly appointed BSA instructor will lead courses. Refresher courses are also available.
Their are two sets of rocks either side of the bay which create a slow, long, cruisy longboard wave at low tide and a fun shorter wave at high! (Rocky bottom). Watch out for the rip over the right hand set of rocks, it has been known to catch people out! Now all you need to know is when does the swell arrive!
