The Garrick Theatre in Covent Garden is currently showing Amy's View, starring Felicity Kendall alongside an excellent cast. The production is an epic journey through family relationships, the changing face of Britain and popular culture, in this witty drama about the power of love and loss.
The drama is set in 1979 and Esme Allen is a successful actress, at the height of her career, earning a comfortable living on the West End stage. A set of events are triggered by a visit from her daughter and her new film critic boyfriend, which will have devastating consequences 16 years later.
Audiences can enjoy the performance from the upper circle, dress circle or stalls. Originally the theatre had 800 seats on four levels, but the gallery level has closed and the seating capacity was reduced to 656. The elegant gold leaf auditorium was restored in 1896 and the façade underwent a facelift in 1997.
The theatre has mostly been associated with comedies and comedy-dramas and the current production of Amy's View runs from 14th Nov until Mar 17th 07. Performances take place every Monday - Saturday at 7.30pm with a matinee occurring every Thursday & Saturday at 2.30pm.
