La Hougue Bie is a Neolithic ritual site, with one of the largest and best preserved passage graves in Europe, that was in use about 6,000 years ago. The site is generally referred to as a tomb, however it had a number of ritual and ceremonial functions that were carried out regularly.
On top of the mound stands a chapel and there are geology and archaeology galleries and a World War Two German bunker to explore during your visit. The bunker houses a unique tribute to the slave-workers, who laboured during WWII.
The Neolithic House houses a number of activities, designed to give visitors a better understanding of the day-to-day life of the community that built the burial mound.
A programme of guided tours, demonstrations, object handling and storytelling is planned for the season. Family tickets and concessions for senior citizens and students are available, with free entry for children under six.
