In October 1866 a new theatre, named The Prince of Wales Theatre and Opera House opened in Liverpool, on Lime Street. About three quarters the size of the theatre that stands today, it was lit by gaslight and all the stage machinery was controlled by steam power. The Liverpool Empire Theatre forms part of Liverpool's Cultural Quarter, part of recently acquired World Heritage status and is set to play an important role in 2008 when Liverpool will be European Capital of Culture.
The Empire has three bars, and rooms available for corporate hospitality and events. Interval drinks can be pre-ordered at any bar. Tea and Coffee facilities are also available. The Stalls Bar- this can be reached from the Stalls and the foyer. Circle bar - The theatre's main bar with exits to all areas of the auditorium Atrium Bar- the theatre's most recently added bar, featuring beautiful views of Liverpool's cultural quarter. The Platinum Lounge has intimate surroundings and is located on the second floor, overlooking the Atrium Bar. Available for corporate hospitality needs, and used regularly by members of our Platinum Associates scheme.
Liverpool has excellent motorway connections and can be reached quickly and easily from all parts of the country. From the M6 the city centre is easily reached by M58 or M62 (via Warrington).
