The colourful, harsh and hostile charm that is the Eastern Goldfields and the effect the magic metal gold has had on it, has been captured and distilled in the Western Australian Museum of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Travel up the mighty Ivanhoe headframe to a viewing platform in the glass- fronted lift to see the panoramic view of the city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the Mount Charlotte gold mine unfold before your eyes.

A brief history of the East Coolgardie Goldfields is displayed, illustrated with photographs copied from the museum's collection of glass negatives, which date from 1894 as well as a gold vault containing state gold collection, jewellery, ingot, coins.
