The Museum of the History of Education is situated on campus at the university of Leeds.
Mr. W.E. Tate established the museum in the 1950s, with the aim to document the history of education and to promote research and publication. The museum hosts approximately 10,000 items from various parts of the country, including extensive archive material ranging from teacher training records, pupil and teacher work, through to administrative records such as school log books.
The museum also contains a selection of interesting items including school laboratory equipment, a magic lantern, an object lesson box and a wide range of pupil craftwork such as samplers.
