Telstra Stadium is now Australia's second largest stadium with a maximum capacity of 83,500 people.
Built in 1999 to be used as the main arena for the 2000 Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games it was the largest stadium in Australia and Olympic stadium history with a maximum capacity of 110,000 people. In order to make it more widely available for different sporting codes, a reconfiguration program was completed after the Olympic Games which then reduced the capacity of the Stadium.
Various national and international sporting competitions are held at Telstra Stadium through out the year including Rugby League, Rugby Union, AFL, soccer and cricket. But porting events are not the only thing Telstra Stadium can host, with the state of the art stadium playing host to star acts such as Kylie Minogue, INXS and The Rolling Stones, it is one of Sydney and Australians major concert venues.
