Castle Cornet is Guernsey's ancient harbour fortress, towering over St Peter Port, which houses a number of museums and holds a daily noonday gun ceremony. The castle was originally isolated upon a rocky islet, until the construction of a breakwater and bridge in the 19th century.
The Maritime Museum tells the story of Guernsey's relationship with the sea and also features a gallery of marine art. You can discover the story of Castle Cornet in the lower barracks, through reconstructions, replicas, models and original artefacts.
The 201 Squadron RAF (Guernsey's Own) Museum is the most recent edition and recounts the squadrons links with Guernsey from the 1930's onwards. The Militia Museum houses regimental relics and highlights the role of the Royal Guernsey Militia, but is currently closed for refurbishment.
Hatton Gallery is a large gallery in the Upper Barracks, showcasing portraits of local relevance. The gallery is only open to the public for specific advertised events and can be hired out for corporate or private functions.
