The German Occupation Museum gives a unique and valuable insight into everyday life in Guernsey, during the German occupation from 1940-1945. The interesting array of displays and dioramas, using audio-visual technology depict the experiences of islanders, during the five years of occupation.
Richard Heaume a founder member of the Occupation Society, owns one of the finest collections of WWII relics in the Channel Islands. The museum also owns two fortification sites, a 10.5cm casemate gun at Vazon and the Naval Observation Tower at Pleinmont headland.
See displays of mines and mine detecting equipment and a German harness and saddlery, with a field kitchen and limber on which the cook or driver would ride. A replica of an anti-tank gun is on display, as well as a diorama of a farmhouse kitchen, showing the hardships of the occupation years.
