Alderney Railway opened in 1847 and is one of the oldest lines in the British Isles and the only one in the Channel Islands. At this charming railway you can take a ride on this historic railroad, which takes visitors along a scenic two-mile stretch.
Just before Christmas Alderney Railway run the annual Santa Special, details of which can be found in the Alderney Journal in early December. Every child receives a small Christmas present and adults can enjoy a mince pie and glass of wine.
The Railway operates each weekend from Easter until the end of September. On Easter Sunday there is the Easter Egg Special, which includes a free mini egg for each children.
In addition to the standard gauge railway, there is a miniature railway that travels about a quarter of a mile. The mini railway operates most Sundays during July and August and for the Santa (weather permitting) and Easter Special.
