Hamptonne Country Life Museum gives you an insight into 300 years of Jersey's rural heritage, amid this collection of farm buildings and meadows. Meet talkative characters from the past, who demonstrate by-gone skills, take you on guided tours and there is plenty of small animals.
Allow yourself plenty of time to explore the buildings and stroll around the kitchen garden and meadows. Listen to the Goodwyf of Hamptonne House tell you stories of what life was like in the 16th century and a little bit about her family too, as you walk into a diorama of a farmhouse kitchen.
Following archaeological investigation and restoration of some of the buildings, Hamptonne was opened to the public in June 1993. The houses are named after the families that once lived there and the architecture is in keeping with medieval Brittany. The Joan Stevens Room is available for board meetings and a marquee can be erected in the meadow.
A number of new environmental exhibits will be added to the site, to make the most of Hamptonne's beautiful rural setting, these include a woodland walkway, a wildlife pond and a wildflower garden. There is reasonable access to most of the site for wheelchair users and people with mobility impairment.
