Jump Rope For Heart is the Heart Foundation's best-known program, set up for schools, and since 1983, more than 8 million school children have participated in the program. The Jump Rope For Heart event held a Sydney's Olympic Park attracts schools from all over Sydney, and there's always a celebrity or two in the midst, willing to take part to help out the children in their skipping abilities.
2006 marks the 23rd anniversary of the Jump Rope for Heart program and enough rope had been used that it would stretch all the way from Sydney to Perth and back. Since 1983, over 50, 000 "Jump-Off" Days have been held, and has risen over $60 million for the Heart Foundation.
Jump Rope for Heart is fantastic fun and is a great way to motivate children to be active. One in five children are now overweight or obese. This means that they are likely to become overweight adults with a higher risk of coronary heart disease, stroke and type-2 diabetes.
