The Great Orme Mines were amazingly undiscovered in 1987 during a landscape scheme in an area of the Great Orme. The discovered copper mines are one of the most magnificent and astounding archaeological discoveries in more recent times.
Mining engineers, caver's and archaeologists have been for the past seventeen years slowly discovering more and more tunnels, many of which are barely wide enough for a person to fit through. The Great Orme Mine is thought to be the largest Prehistoric Mine, so far discovered in the world.
This a great attraction to bring the whole family, walk through tunnels that were mined out over 3,500 years ago, giving visitors an experience of the harsh conditions or ancestors faced whilst searching for copper. See the magnificent Bronze Age Cavern, dug out 3,500 years ago using bone and stone tool
