The Manchester Jewish Museum is situated on the outskirts of Manchester's city centre, providing an insight in to the history of Jewish people in Manchester.
The museum offers a fascinating view in to Manchester's Jewish population dating back to the 18th century, with a wide collection of photographs, documents and room setting to help provide visitors with an authentic perception of Jewish immigration in to Manchester, which was mainly a result of European wars and anti-Semitic pogroms.
The museum also hosts telephone handset recordings of memories from the early 20th century made by Manchester inhabitants who lived through those times. On the downstairs floor visitors can observe the fully restored synagogue, with lavish Moorish décor and fine stained glass.
