Portsmouth Ghost tours begin in the graveyard of Trinity Episcopal Church, on the corner of Court and High Streets in Olde Towne. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and be prepared for one heck of a creepy experience.
Guides take spectators on a tour past haunted houses and mansions of Olde Towne, a 20-square block, 500 building area on the National Register of Historic Places. At each house on the tour, actors in appropriate costume will retell the legends of ghostly visitations and things that go bump in the night. Stories are appropriate for all ages. Cameras are welcome. Houses are private properties and not open to the public.
The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes, ending at Middle Street Park where hot cider is served. There more music and the opportunity to purchase T-shirts, Ghost Books, posters, etc. Free parking in municipal parking garages located on County and High Street and on Middle Street is available. Limited on-street parking in Olde Towne.
