The New Royale theatre has received many professional and amateur companies through its doors, and is continuing to provide wonderful theatre for Portsmouth. The theatre contains numerous facilities that include a bar for each seating area in the theatre offering a wide range of beverages, snacks & sweets.

The New Theatre Royal organizes a wide range of events for schools, youth clubs and community groups. Event include Schools workshops linked to productions, holiday workshops for young people, tours of the theatre and after-show discussions.

By car from the M275 follow the brown signs marked 'Seafront' until you reach the roundabout with 'St Andrews Court' on it - we are signposted from there. Parking is available in the multi-storey Isambard Kingdom Brunel car park on Alec Rose Lane. Tokens for this car park can be bought for £2 from our box office (before you park) allowing up to six hours.

Phipps and redesigned in 1900 by Frank Matcham, the greatest British theatre builder of the era, the refurbished New Theatre Royal is a striking location for events, including;
Weddings: The beautiful Baroque surroundings of a Matcham theatre provide an unforgettable venue for your wedding we are licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies. Our bars and meeting room are also available for hire for a variety of family and other functions.
