The Mt Wilson area lies on the northern edge of the Blue Mountains National Park.
Here, on the higher peaks, the more widespread sandstone occasionally gives way to basalt remnants and deep, fertile soils produce different vegetation to that found elsewhere in the mountains.
At places like Mt Banks, for example, you'll see huge, straight eucalypts rising out of a rich understorey. A walk in this part of the park will give you some spectacular views - from a different perspective - of some of the popular landmarks of Blackheath and Katoomba.
