This park is renowned for its gum species, extensive old-growth forest and the World Heritage-listed rainforest of the Cambridge Plateau.

These internationally significant rainforests have an outstanding diversity of native plants and animals including many rare and threatened species. One local spotted gum, related to the more common form spotted gum of the New South Wales east coast, is found only in a small area on the range.
