Angourie Coastal Walk

Walking Distances: Mara Creek Picnic Area to Shelley Head - 3.5 km. Mara Creek Picnic Area to Red Cliff - 10 km

The Angourie Walking Track to Shelley Beach and Lake Arragan winds through sandy hollows dense with coastal wattle and banksias, past secluded beaches and rises to spectacular views from the headlands.

Shelley Beach which is only accessible on foot has two camp sites one on the flats near the beach and the other on the headland. From Shelley Beach the track heads inland skirting paperbark swamps and climbing sand dunes to give sweeping views of the Bird Nest Range.

Lake Arragan fringed with reeds and paperbarks is home to Brolgas, Black Necked Stalks, Swans, Pelicans, White Faced Herons and many other birds. It is a great place for camping and surfing! There is car-based and caravan camping at Red Cliff and Lake Arragan.
