Tallarook State Forest

The forest covers an area of 5100 ha. and is a popular recreation area for camping, hang gliding, rock climbing, car and motorcycle touring, horseriding and bushwalking. The main features of the forest are:

Mt Hickey - at an elevation of 805m, it is the highest point and is also known as Mt. Tallarook. It is the site of the fire lookout tower which is manned almost every day in summer. In fine weather there are extensive views and the summit can be accessed by 2wd along Mt. Hickey Road.

Falls Creek Reservior - built in 1895, was orginally the water supply for Seymour and Trawool and still retains water all year round. Although there are no facilities it is still a popular picnic and camping site. It is located at the most northern part for the forest on Falls Creek Road.

Freemans Camp Picnic Area - used to be a forestry camp and today is a camping and picnic area with BBQs, tables and toilets.
