Queensland's outback offers some fantastic opportunities to get off the beaten track and visit some forgotten areas of this remarkable part of Australia. Some of these less-travelled roads are sealed, but there are also many that are perfect for the four wheel drive enthusiast. These roads meander through spectacular outback scenery and hidden bush towns where there are plenty of colourful characters to meet. One of these tracks is Kooroorinya Falls. It is important to check road conditions before travelling during wet weather and to always carry plenty of water.
Kooroorinya Falls is a natural waterhole surrounded by high rock walls on one side and sandy, shaded banks on the other. It is a nature reserve that has been recently opened to the public. Visitors can go swimming, fishing, birdwatching or just take a walk. There is a creek with plenty of water and spectacular falls during the wetter months. The Kooroorinya site offers camping grounds, cold showers and toilet facilities.
