Travel by road and cable car to Cairn Gorm at a height of 3,600ft. then climb some 484ft. to reach the summit The area around Loch Morlich and the Rothiemurchus Estate is great for cross-country skiing The River Spey is known for great salmon fishing For the very best views take the route along the Lairig Ghru pass - this is an extremely difficult walk of some 20 miles

High up in the Cairngorms the weather can be extremely changeable and conditions can be sub-arctic, even in summer. If you decide to go walking make sure you are well equipped with maps, compasses and warm clothing at any time of year. Inexperienced walkers should take advice before attempting the Lairig Ghru pass route
