Broken River Platypus

The platypus viewing deck is near Broken River's picnic grounds. The Park's Ranger station and Information Centre, public phones, toilets, barbecues and kiosk are also found here. Camping permits and general information about the area are available from the Ranger Station. Very few Australians have actually seen this rare marsupial in the wild, and Broken River, in the Eungella National Park, is among its few remaining natural habitats. Living in burrows below the waterline, the platypus spends most of its time hunting in the National Park's rivers and streams.

Visit the Broken River viewing platform during dawn or dusk (when the platypus is most active) and see this fascinating native marsupial at home in its natural environment.
