Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve, Karlu Karlu is Tennant Creek region's most spectacular landmark with thousands of huge, precariously balanced boulders. The Aboriginal people believe that these boulders are the eggs of the Dreamtime's Rainbow Serpent. This dramatic collection of giant, perfectly rounded boulders is strewn across a shallow valley.
The Marbles resulted from a series of granite intrusions that occurred 1,700 million years ago. Geological evidence exists that molten lava from deep within the earth's crust was squeezed into huge domes just below the surface and the rocky overlay was worn away over time to expose the Devils Marbles
