A former grazing property, the 7500 hectare national park was gazetted in February 1995. Situated where the brigalow and mulga biogeographic regions meet, the park conserves a representative sample of diverse and fragile semi-arid ecosystems. Flora and Fauna Tregole National Park in semi-arid southwestern Queensland conserves almost pure stands of the attractive ooline.

Ooline is now listed as 'vulnerable' under the Nature Conservation Act 1992 due to extensive clearing over much of its range. The park has a Vast variety of wildlife including the Grey Fantails.
