Yardie Creek is a famous gorge located 90 kilometres from Exmouth in the Cape Range National Park and 38 kilometres south of the Milyering Visitor Centre along the Yardie Creek Road. The ancient gorge features deep blue waters, red coloured limestone cliff faces and an array of wildlife including the rare black footed wallabies and a variety of birdlife.

A 500 metre walk (with a half hour return) meanders above the gorge's vertical red rock walls, overlooking Yardie Creek. It is initally an easy walk but becomes more difficult as you asend the Range.

If you wish to add a further one and a half kilometres (one and half hours return) to this walk, follow the track that leads from the end of the Yardie Creek walk. Remain on the northern side of the gorge so as not to disturb the wallabies. Look closely and you may be able to spot these animals as they seek shelter on ledges along the southern cliff face, where they await evening before coming out to feed. Lovely picnic areas are also available.

Another ideal way to capture the true spirit of the gorge is to undertake an informative and relaxing boat cruise within the gorge. Boat tours are available daily during season.

Getting There
Access by Car: With a four wheeled drive it is possible to cross Yardie Creek close to the sea. It is a long crossing and the base is extremely soft sand. It is necessary to drop tyre pressures to cross. It is not advised to attempt the crossing if the tide is in and the creek flowing as it could be a very expensive mistake! Once across the creek, you can follow the sand tracks back to Coral Bay.
