Lochern National Park is located approximately 120 kilometers south-west of Longreach and has a 20 kilometers frontage to the Thomson River. Coolibahs, bauhinias and river teatrees fringe the main channels and waterholes.
Lochern allows visitors an opportunity to engage in many different activities being that it is relatively small in area. Activities may include bird watching, camping, driving, flora, photography, sightseeing, animal viewing and walking. The guest facilities include car park, picnic area, public toilet. The park features mitchell grass plains, open gidgee scrub, mulga scrub and bloodwood woodlands. Good birdwatching around Thomson River waterholes.
