Charlton House is a fine example of Jacobean domestic architecture, built between 1607 and 1612 by Sir Adam Newton. Many of the original features are still in place, such as the oak staircase remains, fireplaces and the original plasterwork ceiling.
The house adjoins Charlton park and provides a selection of accommodation. The Grand Salon, the Long Gallery and the Old Library, can house marriage ceremonies, private functions and conferences.
Two walled gardens and a formal vista surround the house. The Peace Garden, opened in conjunction with Amnesty International is a tranquil place to ponder and relax or you can have a drink in the cafe.
