In this recreation area, adjoining Royal National Park, you can discover rainforest patches and colourful, prickly heaths. Echidnas and lyrebirds are common local animals. Bushwalkers will greatly enjoy Garawarra's magnificent trees and springtime wildflowers.

If you're looking for undisturbed peace and quiet, the park's two very basic picnic areas provide opportunities for relaxation in delightful woodland areas.

Horse riding is permitted on designated bridle tracks in the area west of Helensburgh where there are two riding schools.
