Nielsen Park, one of Sydneys iconic and unspoiled heritage parks, is a fantastic venue for family picnics, unique entertainment or events.
Part of the Sydney Harbour National Park, Nielsen is well known for its shady grounds and scenic harbour side beach - protected by a shark net during the summer months.
As one of the citys hidden secrets; Nielsen Park was established as a public reserve in 1911, thanks to the efforts of the Harbour Foreshores Vigilance Committee. In 1975, the land and its existing structures were subsumed under the mantle of Sydney Harbour National Park.
Nielsen Park offers a great walk along the Hermitage Foreshore, a 1.5-km bushland strip winding along the western edge of Vaucluse between Nielsen Park and Bayview Hill Road.
