This park is rich in the history of European occupation. It also preserves areas of Cumberland Plain woodland, an ecosystem that once covered much of the area of western Sydney but is now threatened, mainly by urban expansion.

Walk the history trail and imagine what life was like years ago, at the Casual Labour Farm, the Agricultural Training Farm, the migrant hostel or during the time of the area's military occupation. Longneck Lagoon provides excellent birdwatching opportunities and there is a walking track right around the lagoon.
