Located 46km north-west of Charters Towers, Dalrymple National Park covers an area of 1640ha. The park has unique and contrasting features including Lava flows of the Toomba basalt and the Burdekin River. It is a historic park containing part of the township of former Dalrymple west on the Burdekin River.
The Burdekin River Flows through the Dalrymple National Park, the river meanders between the eastern end of the Great Basalt Wall and Mount Keelbottom to the north. The riverbanks provide excellent viewing opportunities to see Water Birds such as the White Breasted Sea Eagle and the Black Neck Stork. The woodlands consist of Eucalyptus trees such as the Moreton Bay Gum and the Blue Gum. The woodlands are home to Rock Wallabies, Northern Bettongs, Sugar Gliders, Greater Gliders and a variety of snakes.
