Comerong Island Nature Reserve encompasses part of the Shoalhaven Estuary, which is an internationally recognised habitat for a range of shorebirds and waders.
There's a small grassed area where you can have a picnic, next to the northern carpark and the reserve is a popular recreational fishing area. Swimming, surfboard riding and birdwatching are also popular.

Getting ThereLocated on the NSW south coast, Comerong Island Nature Reserve is approximately 170 km south of Sydney and within reach for a day trip. Drive 10 km east from Nowra along Terara Road and take the car ferry across Berry's Canal. Please note that the road through the reserve is unsealed and may not be suitable for conventional cars after heavy rain.
