Bowling Green Bay National Park is the largest National park between Townsville and Bowen and includes the majority of habitats found between Cape Bowling Green and Cape Cleveland. Trees Such as the Eucalypt, Bloodwood, Popular Gum, Moreton bay ash and the Iron Bark dominate the forest, sheltering Brush tail Possums, Rat Kangaroos, Cicadas and 244 bird species such as Channel Billed Cockatoos and Scarlet Honey Eaters. Wetlands in the Bowling Green National Park form one of Australia largest and most diverse coastal wetlands. Consisting of intertidal seagrass beds, 9 species of mangroves and freshwater swamps with such diverse landscape it supports a large variety of marine life such as Crabs, Prawns, Black Marlin, Sailfish, Spanish mackerel, and endangered animals like the Loggerhead Turtle, Green turtles, the Saltwater Crocodile and Dugongs.
