Queensland's second largest park contains diverse Peninsula vegetation from open forest to grassy plains and swamps. Crocodile habitat. A rich, diverse landscape, this park has coastal estuaries, mangroves and mudflats; wetlands; vast grasslands and woodlands covering the floodplains; and sandstone hills and escarpments in the south.
The Traditional Owners from four language groups - Lamalama, Kuku Warra, Kuku Yamithi and Kuku Thaypan, welcome you to their country - a place of many stories. They ask that you respect their special place.
Bush camping is permitted in Lakefield National Park. Several camping areas near rivers and waterholes are provided. Information about campsite locations is provided at the self-registration shelters throughout the park.
