Covering over 37,000 hectares this conservation park which is located north of Lock features extensive sand dunes and mallee scrub. It has been related to Victoria's Mallee district due to its low rainfall and resultant features.
Hambridge Conservation Park lies in the central, northern part of Eyre Peninsula. This is a remote park, only accessible to 4WD vehicles around the perimeter. Check with the District Office before entering the park. Fuel, food and water must be carried.
An extensive system of parallel dunes with ridges (6m to 12m) running west to south east with clay pans scattered throughout the inter-dunal area. Prominent Hill (60m - 90m high) is the most characteristic topographic feature in the reserve. The vegetation comprise a low mallee scrub association which form habitat for species such as Malleefowl
